I'm sure Truman took alot of heat for that but good for him for standing up for whats right...Harry was not afraid to do the job he was hired to do and he didn't care if you liked him for it or not. Good comparison with him and G.W...they have more than a few common traits.

Re: What will we sell'em next?

How have we become closer to communist? In what way? Because we are more focused on National Defense than before?

Afghansistan has became a new Iraq? Huh????

You are right about Iraq and civil war...the Shiites, Curds and Sunni's flat out can't get along. They are in better shape than they were with Saddam without question and so are we but it would be nice to see them be able to cooperate a little.

The only way we are coming closer to what those who have attacked wanted is that we are divided as a nation. On one hand we have those who want to be aggressive and go after the terrorists and on the other hand we have those who want to act like that terrorism doesn't exist and that nothing ever happened or will happen in the future. On one hand we have those who recognize the threat and want to be diligent in taking all measures possible to prevent future catastrophes and on the other hand we have those who don't respect the enemy's determination and capability of launching another large scale attack. The terrorists want us to relax so they can sneak up on us again...G.W. doesn't want to let that happen...nor do I.

Re: What will we sell'em next?

Afghan is going right back to where it was. We don't have the forces to police it and keep those who use it out.
We cannot even control the immigration problem in our own country with our neighbor Mexico. So we will control or help country the borders in another country were we are religous dogs.
The reality is who is winning what in any of this.
No one wants another 9/11. But are we making it to where we are becoming what those on 9/11 wanted. A divided country over all this? Is that not what is happening in Iraq right now a division of the country. Which eventually leads to what, civil unrest like we seen in the 60's when we were ending communism in Vietnam. Is communism gone. Will it ever be.
We need the precautions, i agree, but are we not becoming what those who attacked us on 9/ll wanted a nation and even in your own words divided. If that is happening, who is winning.
Us or those who attacked us.
As the words is a house divided can not stand. How can a nation. See what i am getting at.

    [ QUOTE ]
    To no one.

Has anyone thought or looked at who is winning what. We have become more communist lately due to our fear of terrorism.
To me we are not winning anything, Afghan has become a new Iraq, Iraq is ready for a civil war a new Vietnam for the US.
If anything we are changing to what those who attacked us on 9/11 wanted. A nation in fear of another attack. And a nation becoming close to a communist nation due to fear from the outside.
So in all honesty who is winning what?

    [/ QUOTE ]

To me, that is the attitude that the terrorist and Islam wants. When they have us develop that point of view they win. They want the Western world to not respond to what they do. They believe that the Americans do not have the backbone for an extended campaign against them. They are hoping for views like this and more then anything they hope the next administration will be Democratic and will withdraw from Iraq, vowing to stay out of the Middle East in the future. I believe that they have figured that the US as a whole is weak on the ability to stick with the long term problems that face them. The problems with the Middle East will not go away if we withdraw or give up on these people. If we only make a passive diplomatic response that is a very ridiculous attitude to have.

Re: What will we sell'em next?

Read what has been said here before my post. Has that attitude not already been displayed.
That is what i am saying. Who is winning what. A simple question, even here you see the deep division. So again who is winning.
And do we have the means for an extended stay. Let's be honest about a few things.
Do we have the military personel to stay for an extended time.
That was what the North Vietmanese knew. Cause division within the country and attrition. They had done fought for 20 yrs. to them war was a way of life.
So again are we gonna be committed to Afghan and Iraq for 20 yrs. and if so, where do we get the military personnel.
It's easy to say what we should do.
But how do you do it, as your nation divides and your fighting wars on several fronts.
And let's not forget Iran may be next or North Korea.
Big question who is winning and how do we fight all the wars. And maybe the wars to come. Not about tucking tail and running. It's about a real plan to not be there for an extended time. And to not let what is happening happen.
Division within this country and loss of lives because we dont' simple use all the force we should, because we don't want to be seen as the bad country.
Well from i understand and read were in a war. And it's dividing our nation. To me i think it's time to do something.
Either say we are there for the long haul, 10 yrs 20 ever how long and how we plan to stay, and have a plan in place to stay, or use that mighty overwhelming force, and seek out and destroy those we are after.
Can and will this nation go through another Vietnam on any front. I personally don't think so. Just my opinion. But read what is said on here and again. Who is winning. Are we or are we just following the agenda. No matter who is president, someone will have to answer the question and make some plans.
Because we are in a real war on terrorism overseas and here at home. And most don't seem to see it, until we hear of a number of deaths.
Is it gonna take tanks in our streets and troops in our streets here, before we use the force we need.
When you have termites invade your home, you destroy them, if not, they will destroy your home.
Think about it. So who is winning what.

I see your point to a degree but I agree with houndman...the attitude you are kinda suggesting is more in line with what the enemy wants. You are asking alot of questions but do you have an idea with what would be better than what we are doing now? Do you have a specific strategy to suggest?

Neutral, I don't believe you understand what all this is about. It is not about winning or losing but it is about survival of the world. Islam has the belief that they can not be ruled by others. They believe that Allah's laws must stand above human law. The only way to have peace would be for us to accept to be governed by Islam. My question to you would be this: Do you want to accept Islam? You can't be neutral on this belief because the world's survival depends what you believe. In the end Israel will be the winner.

Re: What will we sell'em next?

Read my post before this one. No im not about to say run. I am just saying don't let this nation be destoryed from within, because we don't go after the enemy and destroy them first.
But right now the enemy is winning. I know as a person in this country that is hard to accept. It was hard for me to put that in print on here. But honestly if we don't go after those we should be, then we will in time become the nation they want us to become.
And what do these people we are fighting always use. Religion.
Religious persecution is a keen way to gain support, especially from nations who are of the same beliefs.
Men i am all about the US. But the reality is, if we don't seek out the enemies we have and destroy them, then they will use any means to destroy us. Whether it be religion, a division from within or an extended war, which we seen in the 60's and 70's don't work.
Right now the Islam uprising is one thing. One person manipulating many, to pursuing their interest to destroy the US and bring down Isreal and other countries.
Bin Laden and those who support him. Men of influence can be dangerous. We should of seen that when he Bin Laden helped drive the Russians out of Afghan.
